In it the gamers are asked to put pictures of themselves making a statement against the game regulations and create awareness. It goes without saying the quite a few interesting pictures were uploaded one of which staring a man in a green costume saying do i look like a sociopath….and many others which are more aggressive, directy or funny.  Uptill now more then 100 photoes have been uploaded. This may turn out to be a very interesting move and a big step towards creating gaming awareness.

Sony and Toshiba working together

Sony it now seems, that even though during the development acts like money is no object, does bear heavy duty loses and those after all do take their toll on it. So in order to reduce those costs (which was accounted to be around more then 200 billion yen)only for its processors, Sony has decided to make a deal with Toshiba,  Japan’s largest chipmaker and electronics dealer to create the new chips and continue the existing ones with a less cost to both companies. Although the financial terms havent deen either discussed or closed the deal seems to have been made.

News: Street Fighter IV

Street Fighter is back and with a punch. After 10 years of hibernation Capcom has decided to renew its age old famous arcade game Street Fighter. A trailer was released for the new Street Fighter IV which shows the two warriors locked in a titanic combat. Ryu and Ken are found in a moonlit forest exchanging blows, dodges parries, dragon punches, hurricane kicks, and what not. Suddenly Ryu charges up a fireball and the screen shows the title Street Fighter IV “prepare yourself”. This is enough to tingle the minds of the long time fans of Street Fighter. But the graphics here appear to be 3d. So the question is now is whether the new Street Fighter will be 3d or remain in a 2d enviornment with just cool looking graphics. Either way will it appeal to the hearts of millions like it once did when arcade games used to a craze and people would find kids jammed up in a shop twiddling the joystick and splayed fingered over multitude of buttons for combos and kicks. Only time will tell…

To make or not to make:that is the question

Some of the games which have released in the recent years possess such excellent storylines that they deserve to be made into movies. Although a few of the games have been promised to be converted on to the big screen, but it seems there are not enough. A few of the games which would make awesome movies are

1)Prince of Persia (whole series)

2)Farenhiet

3)Splinter Cell

4)Metal Gear Solid (whole series)

5)Warcraft

6) World of Warcraft

7)Halo (series)

8)God of War

9)Rainbow Six

10)Manhunt

A few names in the game record books the should be made into movies

Size does matter

The new PSP released by Sony, seems to have worked like a charm in the market. The previous makret leaders Nintendo DS Lite and Wii who were out-selling the PS3 are left gathering dust as the PSP zooms over them. According to the Famitsu almost 580,000 were sold in Japan. In the first week over 250,000 units were sold, the lighter version has won people over in Sony’s favor its seems. But it seems that even bfore the new PSP was released Sony started the PSP fever by launching Crisis: Final Fantasy VII and some limited edition packs. Sony PSP is now available in 6 smarty-like designer colors and is slimmer and lighter then its predessor.

Sega’s dirt campaign

Talk about innovation in marketting!Sega UK’s marketing department has come up with their own new way of  advertising, having named it ’street advertising campaign’ for the update of AM3 classic, Sega Rally. Followers of the game are told to promote the game by donning their own dirty vehicle with its name and a slogan to match it, then emailing in a picture for the crowds to see. Fans who manage to take the best photo are being provided with their very own copy of Sega Rally, a PS3 and an extreme rally day experience, which, combined with the other two, would be the best thing to give any dedicated fan.Sega Rally blogs have been given a makeover to match this interesting bit of news, for vehicle designer Keith Burden posts regularly on the process of constructing the cars for the game, and new entries of the contestants wanting a chance to win the delicious prizes. Setting aside the competition, the game itself is worth checking out, with detailed mud physics combined with soem of the older tactics of racing in arcades, which results in time well spent if you are a race title fan.

Hospital Tycoon(PC) Summary

Like all simulation games, the players are required to run or create some building or organization. After the last Sid Meir’s RailRoad Tycoon, Hospital Tycoon has now joined the cue. Codemaster with its Hospital Tycoon has decided to step in previously dominated by Maxis and Sid Meir and it has to do its homework if it wants to survive in the market. The game focuses on the running a good hospital, equipped with wacky doctors and nurses to treat their wacky patients. As seen in most simulation games the interaction of the staff and the patients, other individuals depend on how well the hospital is. The better the hospital, the more patients shall arrive and that in turn shall boost the economy and vice versa. It will involve quite some micro-management like the expenditures on the hospital and requirements of ambulances for patients. The game also has a humorous side to it, like the ailments, which the patients are suffering, may vary from Monkey Nuts to Stress Zimbosis may have equally amusing treatments. Such a game may prove to be more interesting to the public.

Mealstrom(PC) Summary

Maelstrom, a production of the union of two companies Codemasters and KD Vision, earlier responsible for the game Perimeter in 2004, features two factions of humanity who are at war with each other are attacked by aliens. Maelstrom adheres to a basic real-time strategy formula, quite opposite to its predecessor. The story starts a few thousand years later on planet Earth when a freak cataclysm destroys most of its human population. The remaining population is divided into two factions the Ascensions who want to rebuild the Earth their own way, on the other hand there are the Remnant, who want the Earth to the way it was in freedom. It turns out the cataclysm was created by Hai-Genti aliens who want to add this planet to their homes. The player can play as any one of the factions and the campaigns are related to each other. The Ascension stars futuristic looking vehicles, shiny building all supporting the fact that they are sufficiently advanced. The Remnants look a bunch of military guys using salvaged vehicles and desolated structures. The Hai-Genti faction is something new altogether. Their structures seem to ooze out of the spores and they only have organic units unlike the traditional spaceships. The game is relatively traditional with starting of each campaign with a handful of soldiers and vehicles to establish a base and kick hell out of the opponent. The game also stars heroes, which are somewhat stronger than normal units as they have abilities. The player can zoom to third person and have a close up view of the battlefield. It is sure that major goal of the game creators was achieved in creating a traditional sci-fi game in the strategy genre.

News:C&C FPS

Electronic Arts has been seen advertising for sound designers to hire to work on ” a real first generation FPS fame”…in a sci-fi franchise.Even though it has numerous sci-fi titles to its name, C&C3 is title that fits the description. What with the recent rumours about an FPS C&C being created and now an ad for designer,it doesnt take a genious to put 2 and 2 together.Through a source, who spoke under condition of anonymity,it was found out that the project is indeed a “Renegade/Battlefield-style FPS.” No information on a title, release date, or specific platforms was provided, but games from EALA’s World War II FPS series Medal of Honor have been released for the PC, Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. The most recent C&C game, Command & Conquer: Tiberium Wars, was a best-seller on both the 360 and PC. Now one shall have to wait and see if it turns out to be better then the last FPS C&C Renegade.
